Gardens of resistance draws on orality, migratory memories, and family archives to trace intimate landscapes shaped by her biography and that of her ancestors. These are ‘affective territories’ shaped through inherited gestures, silences, desires, domestic spaces, and acts of resistance passed down through generations.
The house, family, affections, and the secret ways of dwelling become both subject and medium. Through poetic and materially resonant forms, Lería exposes the fragile boundaries between the private and the public, the experienced and the remembered, the visible and the silenced.
From this territory, Gardens of Resistance gathers a constellation of works—Archivum Selfies, An Unfolding Portrait (Childhood), Gardens of Resistance, Silenced, Elusive Strokes, I can’t love anyone. Each piece opens a space for questioning memory and identity, evoking gestures of symbolic reappropriation, where personal histories resonate as sites of collective reflection.
