This body of work originates from five group photographs drawn from my family archive, spanning from the late 19th century to the early 1990s.
One of the driving forces behind my work is the reimagining of photographic images through painting. I use the brush to stage a tension between the apparent realism of the photograph and the interpretative, affective nature of the pictorial gesture.

Through this process, I aim to question the relationship between subject and representation, between portraiture and identity—to reveal what photography omits and what painting, in its abstraction and materiality, can evoke.
